Summer Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Summer pruning of fruit trees is as important as winter pruning. Summer is the time to clear out non-fruiting wood from apple and pear trees, but also to look at pruning stone fruit trees like cherries and plums.

In this one day workshop we will go through all the different aspects of summer fruit tree care, from the correct tools to use and how to look after them, right through to the cuts themselves, with practical work on the trees that grow in the Kitchen Garden at Sculpture by the Lakes.

Our tutor for this workshop is John Cunningham.

Trained at The Royal Botanical Gardens, Edinburgh, and a qualified designer, John specialises in pruning and garden development for private clients. He has planted over 60 Royal Horticultural Society and International Show gardens over the past 30 years and has judged for the RHS since 2013. He shares his knowledge with humour and passion.
